Pollen forecast for Oklahoma City today
Pollen levels in Oklahoma City today by trees, grasses and weeds, the forecast for the coming days, and when each plant’s pollen season usually starts and peaks.
Winter is cedar season in Oklahoma. Ashe juniper, known as mountain cedar, grows mainly in central Texas, but smaller stands reach north into the Arbuckle Mountains of south-central Oklahoma, and it releases its pollen in winter, from early December to early February. Researchers at the University of Tulsa have confirmed that this pollen is carried north on the wind, reaching Tulsa in December and January. In Tulsa’s records, native eastern red cedar takes over next, pollinating from February through April. In Oklahoma City, the Oklahoma Allergy and Asthma Clinic publishes a local pollen and allergy report. The calendar below is an estimate for a typical year; exact timing depends on the weather.

On high-pollen days
- Pollen levels are usually highest on warm, dry and windy days; rain washes pollen out of the air for a while.
- Keep windows closed when the level is high and air rooms after rain.
- After a long time outdoors, change clothes and wash your hair; dry laundry indoors.
- Sunglasses help keep pollen out of your eyes.
- If you have allergy symptoms, talk to a doctor — this page does not replace medical advice.
